Let me say this: Had I known before trading my '15 Summit on an '18 Summit and then learning it was squarely in the "death wobble" category, there is no way I would have given up my '15. The '15 was perfect in all respects except its higher mileage which prompted me to look to replace it with a newer one.

In retrospect, the higher mileage was a lot less problematic than getting a new GC subject to "death wobble".

Shame on FCA for this fiasco without a solution.

FMCA has my original spreadsheet identifying the forum members who have experienced the Grand Cherokee wobble and he is still sending details to FCA. As a note, the first reported case of the GC wobble was in October 2016!

New wobble owners should do 2 things. First send an email to Mike Manley and than send your detailed information to (FMCA) care of John Johnston.

As of my last discussion with John, FCA said that “nothing is in development” for the GC.

Deek got rid of his Summit with 5K miles, I got rid of my Summit with 6k.

Shame on this.

I am with you. We are updating from a 2005 Range Rover and have been waiting for the right 14 or 15 Summit..

Ours is only a Limited 4x4 with a few nice options. Most important to us was the diesel.

There is a 2015 Overland diesel in the Toads section of the classifieds. Located in California.

I know you are all GC fans, but faced with this decision last year our dealer had us drive a new 2018 Wrangler JL Sahara, while not quite a GC 100% improvement over our 2013 JK Sahara.

DW had a knee replacement and actually is more comfortable on long (>3 hours) drives than she was in our Lexus RX350 … not comparing the Jeep to the Lexus, just seems that the angle at which her knee is in the Jeep is more comfortable.

Just thought you might want to look at non-death wobble options.

We gave up and traded our GC Overland. The dealer said I must not know what the death wobble was. He said the wobble was only the Cherokee. I told him it happed three times to me in the GC and I was done.

Well, that breaks the customer is always right rule while simultaneously putting on display the dealers lack of knowledge about the product they sell.

I have been looking for a 14 or 15 GC Summit. I found a 14 that checks all our boxes but I have a question hopefully someone can answer. The 15's have active noise cancelling and the 14's do not. I was wondering how much of a difference it makes.

It seems it's to lower noise while in eco mode on the highway.

Noise? We just use the 506 watt stereo. Even with the diesel its a pretty quiet ride.

After experiencing the wobble for the fourth time on my 2017 GC Overland while turning into my subdivision yesterday, I started the research to find out what was happening.

I replied to Las's thread in trying to start FCA down the road of correcting the wobble issue. I contacted Jeep with a complaint and passed that information along in the other thread. I also emailed John Johnston to add another name to the list.

As others have suggested, I also filed a complaint with the NHTSA, referencing Steve Jo's complaint number (on page 16 of this thread's posts). If anyone wants to reference my complaint number too, it is 11221168.

Given the high cost to install towing and braking equipment plus the depreciation on the Jeep, I'm not ready to scrap the GC for something else just yet. I'm willing to hang in there for now. But I'm also a part-timer so I only have to deal with it during the limited number of trips I take each year. If I was a full-timer, I'd be looking for another vehicle and most likely not a Jeep. FCA should consider how many RVers are moving onto their competition because of concerns with their vehicles.

Based solely on the posted responses in this thread from FCA, it appears that their level of concern is quite low.

I spoke to John Johnston (FMCA) a few weeks ago and according to his contact at FCA, the GC wobble problem has been reviewed by Jeep and they are no longer trying to find a solution. I tend to believe that current owners are stuck with the problem.
