I don't know why but I keep getting drawn to this thread. For the folks that keep saying Jeeps are expensive and not worth the money, I have to respectfully disagree with you.

We've had our Jeep Wrangler now for 3 weeks now and all I can say it is worth every penny we paid for it. What other brand car can you get that is so fun to drive, can take you off road, and gives you the opportunity to buy an endless amount of accessories.

I paid $38k out the door. Now find me another vehicle that can do what a Jeep does, can be towed 4 down behind a mh and take me places no other car could at this price point.

Ford, Chevy, Toyota I don't think so.

I have mentioned in other posts that the Wrangler is my dw's daily driver. She loves it. I wish it was my daily driver, but I guess I'll have to be happy with my 2013 convertible Camaro. I'm in the market for a small truck to be a home depot Costco vehicle. If I can find an older Wrangler I might get it instead.

I have a stock 12 JK Sport S.
His name is Red. We get dirty together. Red stays dirty.
We go exploring in gorgeous places, seeing critters and scenery than Disney could never simulate in plastic.
Red and I don't conquer boulders or steep slopes. We simply have fun doing and seeing things that most humans cannot imagine, nor even dream of! Wonder if any real Jeepers go the Fort Wilderness.
No, Wranglers are not cheap. But no other vehicle pays you back with such grand experiences!

They do hold their value and that mitigates the pricey cost new. Example, we bought a JK 2012 new for 32000 (Sahara). I just ordered a 2017 JKU and they are giving me 24500 trade value. I don't think there is another vehicle out their that holds their value so well. I like the JK for everyday driving and as you know it is a perfect 4 down toad. jmo mark

I can't put a price on this. While others are in bumper to bumper traffic I can be at elevation 12,000 feet and thoroughly enjoying the scenery with only like-minded people around. Is a Jeep the only vehicle that can get you here? Of course not, but it does it with ease and does retain its value like no other. At 12 years old and 112k miles, it's still worth over 50% of its original cost.

Ours is my DW's daily driver also.
Where can you get a 4 door, convertible that's a 4x4 also and tow it 4 wheels down? We took it out to dinner the other night and it really drives nice and its comfortable. My only complaint is they packed the engine in there like it was made by Ford

Ya, my 1997 is not so much of a nice ride or highway runner. Big improvement over the CJ, but nothing I really like to run at 70. Add the fact Chrysler didn't offer cruise control in 97 for Jeep!

Atom Ant, my 03 didn't have cruise either, but it would run 75 all day with 35's under it. Little bouncy, couldn't carry on a conversation with the soft top but it was a cruising machine, loved that Jeep!

Do you run yours now with a softop? Was curious if they are quieter.

I keep thinking I would order the dual top option, cause I still like topless and run the soft top all summer. Wife thinks with T-tops I'll get lazy and never take the hardtop off of a new one.

We've had many Jeeps over the years, all soft tops until our current one. Our 07 soft top was unbelievably quiet compared to our old ones. In the older ones between the wind noise and the rattles you couldn't hear yourself think.

Should have gotten a soft top this time too, but in the rush to replace the wrecked 07 ended up with the hardtop. This summer, however, I did replace the removable panels with Bestop's sunrider. Installed easily, fits great, and I can open and close the forward section of the top in about 10 seconds from inside the Jeep.

I saw that sunrider fill piece, it looks cool! My Best-top has the sunrider feature that I can flip back the cab portion, and I use it a lot more than I thought I would, although on a soft top it creates more noise than just taking the whole top off.

Brad, the new one is a painted hardtop. My wife and daughters would complain every time I took the top down. I told my wife, NO SOFT TOP, its a waste if you don't put it down. With the hard top its like any other vehicle, quiet. It does unlatch and come off in sections if you choose to. Since its painted I'm not a fan of taking it off for fear of damage.

Dont overlook a good used TJ/LJ. Mid teens $$. Simpler to maintain. Easy to modify and for less money. IMHO.

But if 4 doors are a must, those additional doors will be expensive. (-:

Ya, I get the same complaints

I put the hard top back on early this year.
