Everyone has a new car horror story. The worst car I ever bought new was a 74 Volvo. So far the 2015 Jeep jk Wrangler has been great. Sorry the op has had so many issues.

Really glad about this thread.

I’m not a Jeep owner and my opinion was based on what I read in regards to reliability and cost so I shied away from them.

Now thanks to BobMar who recently got rid of their WONDERFUL Sidekick (yes I have one too) and bought a Jeep(TRAITOR!) I’m rethinking the whole thing...

However a Jeep Liberty, which I really like the looks of, AND they have a good track record is 1000 pounds more than my Sidekick which I don’t even feel when towing.

But...not talking apples to apples as the Liberty has WAY more comfy options...like power windows for example...lol!

All that to say I am looking at Jeeps for my next toad.

There are many kinds of "Jeeps". What's true for one model is not necessarily true for a different model. For some reason a lot of folks think all "Jeeps" are the same. They'll respond with their Cherokee experience when asked a question about a Wrangler. I never understood that.

Read any of the so called "death wobble" threads and you'll see what I mean.

All the Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge family has had issues since Fiat became the principle partner. No question about that. As far as the Wrangler goes, it occupies a very unique slot in the market. This especially true of the Rubicon. Used as intended off road, it's really the only vehicle of its type out there. Many new owners are unfamiliar with the driving characteristics of a solid front axle. They expect them to drive like a generic SUV. They don't. You need to actually keep your hands on the wheel and steer them. They are noisy. They have a funny electric system with a screwy dual battery set-up. They tow really easy. There are lots of after market parts so you can set one up exactly like you want. They aren't faster than a speeding bullet, but they can almost leap tall buildings with a single bound. I have about 18000 miles on my 2018 JLUR and about 6000 towing it. Yes I've had one minor problem and a couple of recalls that I didn't see any difference in doing but did anyway. I've been off road a lot and am still amazed at its ability. It's the only vehicle I've owned that makes me smile when I drive it.
