I read on a Jeep forum that 09-10 Wrangler Unlimiteds do not have a steering wheel lock. I tried it (with a lot of effort) and it seems to be true. Can anyone who tows their new Jeep confirm this? It would really simplify towing if it's true.

Hi Jim,

I tow an 09 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and it does not have steering lock. No need to put the key into the ignition just make sure you have the transfer case and tranismission set as per the book.

Thank you for responding. It's reassuring to hear that someone else has been doing it. I had an 05 Wrangler, but I didn't have to worry about unhooking the battery cable or rigging a charging wire from the coach. This makes it much simpler. No key at all! GREAT!

Ditto here -- 2010 Jeep Wrangler and confirmed with Jeep that the owner's manual is incorrect. MAKE sure your transfer case is in Neutral and the transmission is in Park. Happy trails!
