Jeep stuck in neutral

After towing my jeep and trying to put it back in drive it won't. I have 0 resistance on the fear shifter, the short one and don't know what to do.

Any experience? Help?

Is it on any kind of an incline? I'd start it and let it roll, very slowly, while trying to move the shift lever. Did you try moving it back into 4X4 mode first, and then back into 2X? Have you tried moving the transmission gear shift lever through the gears before retrying the transfer case lever?

I've heard of this, but have never experienced it. Usually it's hard to move it at all when it 'decides' not to cooperate.

It's actually broken from the cable. But moved it into 2h manually from under and van now drive to dealer for cable.

welcome to the club! Same thing happened on ours, it's just a little plastic clip on the transfer case cable shifter--had the dealer replace under warranty as I thought you had to replace the entire cable,turns out just the clip--now I know

I found the little yellow clip, broken. But I don't think it is just that that needs replaced as the shifter moves freely with it held in place by hand. Do you know if your cable moved at all when you moved the lever? Mine does not.
