No need to disconnect the battery Greg, when I bought my cool tech harness I revived a disconnect with it but never installed it, no need to.

Current Jeeps don't have a steering wheel lock, so you can remove the key. So no need to disconnect the battery.

We had to disconnect the battery in our '07 Rubicon, but since mid '08 the steering wheel lock has been removed. Transfer case in neutral, transmission in 5th gear (or park, if it's an automatic) and we're good to go.

If the supplemental brake system you use draws power from your battery you may want to add a charge line, otherwise, no more worries about drawing down the battery than if it was parked in your driveway.

You do not add miles when you tow because the transmission is left in Park after the transfer case is put in Neutral. Has nothing to do with the key being in or out. The newer Jeeps do not have a steering wheel lock so the key should be removed.

I have the proper diode type wiring harness, so I do not have to do anything with the fuses or battery. All light power comes from the coach, not the Jeep battery.

I concur with others here. I tow a 2009 Wrangler, installed the battery disconnect (also from CoolTech) just because I could...and I've never used it. Kinda neat to have it in the hypothetical situation where u wanna thwart a would be thief maybe, but he'd have to be pretty dumb not to check that!

I have the 14 JKU and installed CoolTech harness. Just as the owner manual states all you need to do is put transfer case in neutral and auto in Park. My key stays in my pocket and there is no battery drain.
