My Rubicon came with an on board tire pressure monitoring system built in. It is not as advanced as the TireSafe Guard system that I have been using in the MH (and the previous Jeep) for a while now. So when I sold the old Jeep I had the TSG sensors taken out. I had them installed yesterday into the Rubicon, replacing the factory sensors. The factory sensors and the TSG sensors look quite similar.
The built in Jeep system just uses a dash light indicator that warns when a tire drops below a certian preset threshold. The TSG sensors send a signal to a receiver in the MH that displays the tire pressure and temperature in each Jeep tire.
Well, the TSG system is working fine, but what has happened, at least so far, is that the on board system in the Jeep thinks that the sensors are missing and has illuminated the light. I'm not sure yet if the situation will correct itself or not. I looked at the possibility of pulling a fuse, but just my luck the fuse that controls the Jeep TPMS also controls several other dash functions.
If the sensor light doesn't reset itself, I may as a last resort try the dealer to see if they can flash the ECM to turn off the system. Any other ideas guys??
