There is a local jeep club that I was planning on checking out

any reason for AEV vs Mopar or Teraflex? I don't want to head out west then regret not having a bit more clearance.

W/O a doubt this is by far the worst jeep I have ever owned. Every jeep I have had in the past I had zero desire to modify... Now I spend way to many hours looking at lift kits and a bunch of other crap

I second the AEV lift...very smooth on the road but plenty of articulation. We did a 2200 mile trip from socal to Moab and down through western CO and the suspension combined with the very comfortable seats, made that trip a real pleasure!

Nice lookin' Jeeps here, and YES, I have to agree, gotta love them Jeeps.

Here is ours with our coach. Sometimes she rides in comfort in the trailer, other times she's flat-towed.

And all shined up for a night out on the town.


Ours like others started out as a blank canvas and I have built it myself from the ground up. Including the machining and fabrication of the suspension, bumpers and everything in between.

Question: I noticed on your build website in one picture the electrical plug on the Jeep for the connection to the MH was dangling down. I couldn't tell from the pictures where you ended up installing it. Where did you put it and how did you do it?

I just finished putting RockHard4x4 bumpers (very similar to yours) on my TJ and there is no provision for mounting the plug on the bumper. I suppose I'll just have to drill a 1 1/2" dia. hole in it. I pull mine four-down also.

Thanks guys, I am very flattered. And YES, I am still working full-time. Wish the wife and I were retired but I'm only 47 and have a few years left to work.

The BFG KO2's are awesome!! I love that tire.

I believe the picture with the plug hanging was taken while I was fabricating my new front bumper. If you look at the picture below I have circled in yellow where it is located. It is located in the same place as with my old Warn bumper, but I removed it so it wouldn't be in the way. It is hard to see but it is just below and behind the roller fairlead and actually fastened to the crossmember that I fabricated for towing. It is located between the bumper and the crossmember so it is protected.

Thanks for the reply Mike, helps a lot! No wonder I couldn't see it in the build pics. Nice, neat location. Looks like I'll either have to drill a hole in the bumper or put my baseplate back on beneath the bumper. Crap, I really don't want to do either one!

NC25T... there are a lot of various lift kits out there! I went with AEV because it was so universally recommended by a lot of people who know much better than I do what to go with. The AEV 2.5" Coil Lift kit is well-engineered and well-built, widely known and used.

And, interestingly, the AEV 2.5" kit gives a nicer, more comfortable ride than the stock set-up!

If you decide to go with this kit, make sure to add the geometry correction brackets which are standard on their higher kits, but may be optional with the 2.5" kit.

2.5" lift with 35" tires is a nice, happy medium and will raise a Jeep 4" over stock, which I think is plenty for most off-road purposes. And not so tall as to be overkill for a daily driver. You will definitely notice a 4" lift when getting in and out of the Jeep..... the extra effort helps keep you youthful!
