Well. it seems to me that not many people are using a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland as a tow vehicle. So I guess I'll look for something else. My Subaru is fine but I'm getting tired of the manual transmission.

Liberty's & Wrangler's are popular 4-down toads.

I think with a gasser you'll be better off with something a little lighter anyway. We love our Wrangler.

I'm happy with the Saturn Vue. Just wish sometime it was 4 wheel drive.

DW did not like the ride in the Jeep.

If your grand cherokee has the manual AWD transfer case (4WD / Neutral / 4LO) it will tow 4 down with no problem

In your other post you asked about the 2011 JGC. That model has only been available in the Overland trim since September. Also at 45K for a 4x4 overland it's not like your going to see a boat load of them out there as toads yet.

I got mine at the end of October after ordering it in September. Base plates weren't readily available for it until October and November. I've installed my base plate and I'm now debating my auxillary braking choice. I've used M&G in the past but it will not fit on the new Grand Cherokee.

The 2011 JGC will tow just fine as long as it has the Qaudra-tracII or Qaudra-drive. All Overland 4x4 models come with Qaudra-drive when ordered with the V-8 and Qaudra-tracII when ordered with the V-6. Also all Overlands come with the new Qaudra-lift air suspension. Most overlands sticker at around 45K but can be had for Invoice or 500 below if you shop and deal. Mine was 42 plus tax with V-8.

We're towing a Jeep Wrangler and really like it. When we decided to replace it we're going to look at the Nissan Xterra. It's a good off-road vehicle but has more room inside.

My apologies. After reviewing the towing guides the Xterra automatic is not four wheels down towable.

For anyone that might be looking to purchase a 2011 Jeep, or any Chrysler product, you can join Tread Lightly for $60 which will give you access to the Chrysler Affiliate Rewards program. Tread Lightly - Tread Lightly! Discount on Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler Vehicles
When you get your control number you can take it to any participating dealership and receive a no hassle 1% off of factory invoice with any other factory special program still applying. You may be able to negotiate a better deal, but at least this should give you a good starting point.

I love my Jeep GC Overland. I use to tow a Wrangler, but did not like it's road manners. It did however tow well, and was great off road. The GC is just way more refined on the highway.

The Wrangler Unlimited is highly superior compared to my 01' Wrangler. The longer wheelbase and 4 doors made a huge difference in both on and off road. Give them a look.

We are new to this motorhome/toad thing. Time to trade the Grand Cherokee for a 4X4 Jeep. We are borderline on weight limits with our Winnebago Adventurer 33V. Any thoughts or comments from those experienced with towing?
