Where have I been? Someone just told me that Chev. removed the HHR from the 2012 lineup. Great toad. Wonder why?

Yeah, too bad, but the HHR was never a huge seller and the new Sonic hatchback covers much of the size/price class that the HHR filled. And Equinox covers the rest of that class. Equinox is a excellent toad, by the way.

It might have been a great toad but it sure was an ugly thing - almost as ugly as the Aztek. Retro-style designs have not done well. Ford canceled its retro-look Thunderbird after only one year on the market.

As they say" beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" You're entitled to your opinion , as wrong as it may be.

We love our HHR. It's red. Matches our Bounder ( not )

With the HHR gone, the 2012 Malibu not towable 4-down, and the Cruze only towable with a manual, I think the only 4-down towable automatics are SUVs with transfer cases that have a neutral position. Saturns were always popular but they went away several years ago. Is there a non-SUV I am overlooking?

When we bought our Malibu we had tried to find stick shift versions of quite a few of the Hyundai's, Toyota's, Kia's, etc, but they are few and far between and almost always are the stripped-down cheapest models.

Here is a photo of the dinghy towing guide for 2012. The Malibu is still towable 4 down.

We have a HHR for a toad as well. It's light enough to tow behind our gas MH, it does go four down with only the pulling of a single fuse. This feature comes in handy if we want to disconnect from the rig to drive up or down steep grades or getting into some gas stations. Within 5 minutes we are disconnected and driving. Falcon all terrain tow bar and SMI brakes help with the ease of towing as well. Not to mention our HHR gets over 30 mpg while on the highway. My only issue so far would be that the front end needs to be realigned as I can feel a slight front end shimmy while braking now and then. But I would recommend pulling an HHR..

I have an 09 HHR which I tow and it is the best toad I have ever owned. It is DW's every day go to work car and saturday grocery gette. I have it equipped with a blue ox baseplate , fuse switch and roadmaster even brake. It is so light and easy to tow, I don't even notice it, except when I look in the rear view camera. I think it is cute and I like the way it drives and rides. I am really disappointed thad GM has discontinued it. Probably some bean counter that knows nothing about towing made the decision. The Equinox is towable four down, if you order it with the six speed trans and it is lots more expensive than HHR.

Hi Cliff I remember yours also . You keep a clean car also. Did you hear that Assoc Isl is now a KOA. Hope they don't raise the rates.
