Thanks, I'm on that forum, but haven't been there for awhile. I'll check it out when DW is done with Christmas "stuff" .

There are still dingy capable vehicles with auto transmissions available.
One of my toy cars has a clutch pedal but just not ready to have a regular 'driver' that I have to shift.

Suggestions for a car type vehicle include:
) finding 2014 or earlier Honda CRV as a 2015 wont work.
) Chevy Captiva ( think Saturn)
) GMC Terrain or Chevy Equinox (check specific model)

Like OP We had one of the first 2006 Chevy HHRs. When Chevy announced HHR production was ending in 2011 ours had about 140k miles showing, of course not including dingy miles. DW said she wanted another HHR before they were gone so we now have a 2011 HHR.
Our 06 HHR is now trailing behind a friends motorhome.

I have the 2015 Kia Soul with manual 6 speed transmission. Is there a kit out there to install a cruise control system? Never heard of cruise on a manual tranny. Also what is the deal with the electric door locks? That I might be interested in. Is it installed by the dealer or owner installed?
I love my 2015 since I am getting a steady 32 mpg around town and upper 30's on the freeway. All good news

Dean I posted a link to the keyless install (by owner and it not that hard to do) to Brock yesterday click on that link for how to with pictures remember the 2014 Soul is the same as the 2015, the link for the Cruse control install with pictures for the 2014 (again same as 2015) clink on the link

2014 Soul Base Add Cruise Control

And you can add a Cruse to a standard shift, when you mash the brakes the Cruse will cancel .

Dean just got through installing the OEM cruse with the cruse buttons installed on the right side of the steering wheel like factory installation and tested it out, if you mash the brakes or clutch it canceled the cruse. The cruse control light comes on when cruse is activated, love it! We also love the little Soul it is a neat car.

My 2010 Kia Soul 5 speed manual has a cruise control on it. Factory stock, on the steering wheel.

The 2015 entry model with 6 speed it is not a option offered and neither is the arm rest, you either install it your self or some of the kia dealers may install it for you?

Thanks Walt, I will look into the keyless entry first and then maybe tackle the CC after the first of the year. From all the posts it does not appear that either installation is that difficult, even for an old codger. I talked to Car Toys but they want between $150 & $200 (installed). Seems a bit high, but then installation is included.

Dean. both the door locks and the cruse control was a easy install but the arm rest was a bear for me but I finaly got it installed, on the cruse control the secrete to that installation is finding the correct wire color and remember that the Soul is a negative control installation. The instructions will have negative and a positive hook up instructions.

Thumbs up

We have a Captiva and love it. Since they sold only to fleets, you have you buy used, but you can get a very good price because they don't have brand recognition. My 2014 had about 18,000 miles and we bought it for less than $19,000. Plus the Captiva is an automatic - the others you mentioned can only be towed with standard transmissions.

The Captiva is very comfortable. I wouldn't drive the old Chevy Cavalier we towed - my wife piloted it. But the Captiva is so nice that I find myself using it around town in place of my Yukon.

It is essentially the old Saturn Vue but with the same engine and transmission as the Equinox. Baseplates are readily available. My system has a Blue Ox baseplate and tow bar and a Stay-in-Play brake system from SMI. Attach the tow bar, put the Captiva in neutral, and throw 2 switches; then we're off. It couldn't be easier.

Correction the secret to installing the door locks is finding the correct wire color on the door lock kit you purchase and the Soul is a negative hook up.
