I have just received my roadmaster tow bar and base plate for my 08 wrangler unlimited. My SMI air brake system came in 3 days ago. As soon as my Jeep shows up (another 3 to 5 weeks), I'll let you know how everything works out. I havn't decided if I should get the cool tech wire harness kit or just wire in the turn signals and running lights since the brake lights will come on when the air brakes are applied. Don

Not sure about the SMI air brake system, but with the Stay-In Play Duo I just installed, properly adjusted, the brakes don't come on with every application of the coach's brakes. In that situation, I wouldn't want to depend on the Jeep's brake lights coming on only when the SMI activated.

I have been following this thread with great interest. I will be ordering a new 2009 43' Dutch Star, And will be towing a 2008 jeep Sahara. I plan on going with the Blue Ox Tow system And install the Cool Tech harness. Couple questions: I am confussed about the single splice (my jeep has the hitch pkg) with the yellow wire. does the Cool Tech instructions cover this? Also I keep seeing where my wrangler is referred to as: JK What does JK stand for? Thanks Excited because we will go to Newmar factory the last of this month to tour and pick out options John

Almost forgot to ask my main question, and mabe BillAft can awnser this one. My choice of tow bars in the Blue ox line I would consider would be either the Aventa LX or the Aladdin. With money Not being an issue which one would you choose, and why???

Vacman, the cool tech instructions cover the install for your tow package...it is very easy to accomplish. Takes about 2 minutes once you locate the yellow /white wire. Make sure you attach to the correct wire bundle.

I chose the Aladdin. It it the lightest of the tow bars available. Easier to move round and store. Really no need to deal with the heft and weight of a 10,000 lb rated tow bar when 5000 lbs is all my coach can tow. The Jeep is well under 5000 lbs. Plus it looks really cool

vacman, the 2008 Sahara 4Dr 4x4 weighs 4320lbs with auto xmission/4297 with manual GVWR are 5400/5337. The 10K lb tow bar provides a lot more margin as Bill stated

From everything I have heard I think I will go with the Blue Ox Aventa, And the Cool Tech harness. As for the brake system I am leaning real hard toward the Unified Brake system. Thank for all the good thoughts.....John

Rick,

I guess the question that begs to be asked is "How much do you weigh?"

Seriously though, that information would be useful in order to know the actual Wrangler weight. Thanks.

If you have a class III hitch on your MH, can you still use a class IV tow bar and still stay under the 5,000 lb rating?

HELP !! I've run the Cool Tech harness to my front bumper where I'm installing a 4 round receptical. Trying to line up some wires here..

Cool Tech has Red, Brown, Yellow, and Green. My coiled connector and associated round plug has Red Yellow, Black, and White wires . I need to install the CoolTech harness into this round plug and am currently lost as to which wire goes where?
anyone? THANKS
