Lightest weight car trailer

Folks,

What's the lightest car trailer that could haul a 3850lb 15.6ft car?

Thanks,

Hi Radar,

I am shopping for a toad at the moment to dolly or flat tow.

It got me thinking I really should see if there is a trailer that can tow my Wifes VW.

Specs put it at 3850lb and my coach has a 5000lbs tow rating, probably not doable but worth checking.

Cheers,

Go with an aluminum trailer. They are about half the weight of a comparable steel trailer and about twice the price, generally speaking.

If you have the trailer built to your specifications the builder may be able to shave a bit of weight off. Lots of good builders out there. We had our stacker built by InTec. Good trailer, reasonable price and great customer service following the sale.

Thanks both,

Looks like the weight will be too close to my 5000lb limit.

An 82" wide 16' long Aluma Trailer weighs 1350#. It will have two 3500# Torsion axles. It tows like a dream and comes with ramps and tie down loops.

Thanks Crasher,

If car was 200lbs lighter it would be perfect. Must get it on a scale.

I have a 20' aluminum trailer, think it weighs just over 1200#. Torsion 3500# axles, dove tail, etc.. Tows great !!!

It does have the axles a little further back than I wanted, but does allow for some innovative ways to bring things home !!!!!!!

FWIW, your motorhome will not know the difference of a few hundred lbs over 5,000.
