I don't know about your rig or the tow vehicle but that seems high to me. Have gotten a second estimate from another shop? If not I'd strongly suggest you do.

I would go to the US-Gear web site and check their price on that brake controller.. I had one when I had a towed and I do not recall paying that much for it... but then that was few years back...

It would pay you to drive to Vegas and have the guys I used. $1300.00 to remove the Uni-brake from my old Toad and install everything on the Jeep. That includes the cost of the bracket, wiring, breakaway switch-----the whole works
There is a guy in Olympia that is really good. He installed the origional on my Subaru. I asked him about the changeover and he wanted $2000. Complete!
Sounds like the guy wants a new swimming pool or Class A motorhome on your dime

Thanks guys for the feedback! I am definately going to shop around now. Foot note, the guys @ this place (Van Specialties in Lake Oswego) state that installing the Unified Tow Brake takes 8.5 hours labor to do properly. ??

It does take pretty much all day, but that estimate is really high.

OK guys just got qoute for identical setup from Brazers in Centrailia, WA

$3,600

Why do you guys think it should be so much cheaper? Am I missing something?

FYI, Brazers qouted me $2,000 for just the Sterling tow bar, brackets, light wiring, setup and install. The elaborate braking system runs between $1,600 & $1,800 parts and alot of labor.

Go to to US Gear website and check out their list of dealers. That's what I did here in Vegas. Of course the Overland is fairly new to most of the shops so it will take longer.
Give Ernie a call at RV Hitches and Welding in Olympia. 360 456 6100. Maybe he can do better
Bruce

Nice toad! ... that MKT weighs in at 4,900 lbs dry..... how do you like how it tows? I am new to this toad thing and this JGC weighs 5,000 dry and am a bit nervous.... + I don't feel comfortable hacking into wiring harnasses on such new and beautiful cars.
