I just bought a 2012 Chevy Captiva to flat tow. I was told there is a 2 amp fuse that needs to be removed before towing. Help where is it!!

Welcome to irv2. I tow a Chev HHR and the manual says to pull #8 fuse and the fuse diagram in the manual shows where it is. Do you have your manual ?

Your owner manual should clearly identify towing procedures - GM owner manuals are very good on that. Look under Recreational Towing or Dinghy Towing.

As the OP found when looking for the fuse. There is no such fuse in the fuse panel. The link I provided in my first post answers the question.

I have a 2009 Saturn Vue. The Chevy Captiva is said to be the same car.
If so here is what my owner’s manual says (sort of; I added a switch and modified my check list):
· To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, push the guarded switch. (The switch removes the 2 amp IGN SW fuse from the circuit. See Instrument Panel Fuse Block on page 5-80 of the owner’s manual for fuse location.
On my 2009 Saturn Vue I remove the 2 amp IGN SW fuse. When I disconnect the fuse the bell that tells me the keys are in the ignition will stop clanging. Pulling the fuse might isolate other items in the circuit as well as the car will not start until the fuse is replaced.

The fuse is located in the fuse panel that can be seen through the passenger door. The access panel is on the center console near the passengers left calf. The fuse is located just above the fuse remover device and is the 2nd fuse in that row from the front of the car.

While many things are the same between the Saturn Vue 2008-10 and 2012-13 Captiva. There many things that are different. One item is fuse panel. The fuse you pull may be the same but is called PWR/MODING on the Captiva.
