Looking for a 36' diesel pusher to pull 10K trailer
Hi,
I am a new member and am looking for some input on a used coach that can pull a 10K trailer.
I am leaning toward a 36' CC Tribute or Holiday Rambler Scepor or a Monaco Diplamat.
I am confused. I want a 36' with a 350 to 400 HP engine 2006 to 2010 range.
I sold my 2007 Revalution 40LE. It was to big. Then I bought a Lance truck camper.
What was I thinking!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

I just bought a 27' cargo "V" nose trailer that weight out loaded about 10,000b when loaded. I took it out for the first time last week for a test run. We traveled about 300 miles and went up and down a few steep hills here in Oregon. I was very pleased. It ran very well down and on the flat highways and just a bit slower going up, as can be expected. We have a 2011 Monaco Knight with Maxforce 350hp engine. Now I'm very happy I did the right thing. I have a Jeep Wrangler and a Honda Goldwing Trike inside the Cargo trailer. The Jeep weighs 3800b and the Honda 1300b. The trailer about 5800b.

Welcome to the forum.
We have a 40' Dynasty and tow a 26' Haulmark Edge weighing right around 12,500 when loaded with the Harley, Jeep and tools. It tows great but you can never have enough power. Our coach has the ISL 400 and handles the trailer great.
We have some friends that have a 34' Journey and tow a trailer similar to ours. His Journey has the 350 hp CAT but tows his trailer great due to his somewhat better power to weight ratio as ours.
Mike.

A friend we used to race/dune with has a 2008 40' with the ISL and tows a 30' Progressive stacker loaded. Does pretty good, won't be the first up the hills but neither is mine.

What you need to be looking for are engine/transmission combinations that can handle the load. So a CAT 350, Cummins ISC or ISL, and an Allison 3000 transmission. That leaves you with a wide range of motorhomes to pick from.
Nobody has mentioned Tiffin but they build a 36' Phaeton rated at 10,000 lbs towing and a 37' Allegro Bus rated at 15,000 towing.

Consider a Super-C? They will have plenty of towing capacity, and a chassis made for for what you want to do.
