Loss of ACME Dolly Lights

I have been having my LED lights fall out almost daily on this trip. Last time wires were damaged and I had to splice in a new connector for the light, all of which is now somewhere on the highway. Anyone else have this issue? I am thinking of going with surface mount rather than the grommet mount lights once I get home and have more time and tools.

We're yours tie wrapped in place or just held in place with the rubber grommets?

Rubber grommets only. If you tie wrap yours, do you have a photo?

I don't have pictures but mine came from the factory with the tie wraps in place. After receiving I ask the Acme staff if they were for shipping and needed to be removed and was told to leave them in place as additional support. Acme might be able to get a photo of how they install the tie wraps.

I may need to lay my tow dolly down this weekend and if I do I will get some photos for you.

Yep. I now have the glued (Epoxy) to the metal holder and the light itself into the grommet.

Thanks. I will be home tomorrow (with one light MIA) and will email Richard. He is usually pretty quick returning information when I send an email. I think the flange mount may also be an option but am wondering if ACME found that a hard mount causes problems since the dolly doesn't have any suspension.

The Acme "EZE-TOW" Tow Dolly

Vettenut, contact the office at Acme and ask them about the solution to your issues. It is a very simple fix. 1-336-996-4396. Tell them Richard said we would send you everything you need.

I will. Spoke to ACME on Friday and they are sending me the parts for repair along with photos (see below) of how to add the tie wrap to prevent them from falling out. They have always provided good customer support even when I was on the road last year. Sad thing is our state of repair on some of the roads is awful. The light was a minor issue compared to the stairs breaking a bolt and several other issues that resulted from the terrible roads.

Bob, Thanks!

Acme sent us the LED lights and brackets to retro our dolly. Leaving for Seattle next Wednesday...will add zip ties just to be safe.

Thanks again for sharing

My lights are mounted vertical and not horizontal. Round trip from Dayton to Harpers Ferry WV with no issues. Some roads were so bad I swear it was jarring my fillings loose. The lights however were still good. Also noted that my fenders are still good as new. Had heard that some were coming loose.

I have found some of the roads so bad that we have sustained a lot of damage, not only the dolly, but the stairs and I have even had the circuit boards in the 50A power/surge protector disengage where I have to open the unit and plug the boards back in again.
