If you are a FMCA member go to their Towing Guide web site and look at the different years for the Towing Guides.

Each one will list what brand and models were towable for that year.

Hi BeltoneMagoo! I have a 2001 Subaru Forester manual that I want to tow behind my motor home. I've been looking at the Roadmaster RM-520 towbar and 909-9 base plate. Do you know if this will work on the car?? Getting conflicting info and its getting very confusing! What tow bar and base plate do you use? thanks!

The Honda CRV would work, Honda certifies it for towing up until model year 2013 or 2014 (can't remember which.) The newer models changed the drive train and it is no longer 4-down towable from what I've heard.

If you need a little a larger SUV the Honda Pilot is also 4-down towable also, but Honda only certified up until the 2006 model year. However, all the models up until the 2013 or 2014 model are towable, Honda just doesn't certify or cover it under warranty. They had too many claims filed because people didn't follow the required step prior to towing.

The specific sequence of steps that must be followed, are not difficult nor time consuming. It just ensures the transmission is lubed before it moves. We have a 2005 Pilot and it has been trouble free so far.

if you remove "type" from the conditions, that opens up a bit. you may also put your rig's size/weight into consideration so to decide how big a toad you want. good luck.

The only low cost SUV you will find is a CRV. SUVs are Not inexpensive. A 10 year old CRV has plenty of room, and a 10 year old one will be affordable and reliable.

We've towed our 2007 Saturn Vue for 7 plus years over 20,000 miles without a problem. It is also the DW's daily driver. It now has 130,000 plus driven miles and the towed miles on it, still going strong. Regular routine maintenance is all it has required.

In 2007 I bought a 1998 CRV to tow behind our first MH. It had 70,000 miles on it when I bought it. Towed perfectly and never had any problems with it. Reasonably priced and I got great trade-in value for it a year later. Traded it in on a 2005 CRV and same story. Traded that one in on a new 2011 CRV and same story.
