low cost no hassle toad
I am looking for a 1999 to 2009 SUV to flat tow. Not planning on going more than 1000 miles maybe 4 times a year. There are some Izuzu's available, but can't really tell if they are towable. I just want to hook up and go.

I have a Toyota Echo, and it is the best car I have ever owned. I have 130k miles, plus another 60K being towed. I have replaced the battery, tires, spark plugs, etc. It has all of the original belts and hoses. Other than the normal maintenance items, it has never had a repair.
It weighs right around 2000 pounds and tows like it is not there. It is a surprisingly roomy and has a good size trunk. It is a safe car. I hook it to the coach, turn the key one notch, manual trans in neutral, parking brake off, toss the Brake Buddy in and go.

Our 2003 Suzuki XL-7 has been a most dependable trouble free vehicle easy to set up & tow.
Good luck with your choice & safe travels

I believe the post was low cost and it is almost impossible to find a low cost jeep product in good condition. Chevrolet Tracker is a very hard vehicle to beat. Quite frankly my son has owned a couple of older Cherokees and my friend has owned a couple. They are constantly being worked on. I have a 98 chevrolet tracker. Currently has 190,000 miles. I replaced the timing belt at 100,000 miles for preventative maintenance. Replaced the distributor cap, plugs, wires at about 150,000 and new tires that is the extent of my repairs. I have several friends that have had trackers and sold them over the years. Every one I have known that has had one and sold it has regretted doing that. I almost never drive mine because I have other cars and just keep it for an extra vehicle. We normally tow our 2012 enclave because it is more comfortable for the DW. I manufactured the vehicle end of my tow bar on my tracker so I can tow it and the few times I have done so it was easily the best thing I have towed. It does not weigh very much is very short. It gets my vote as the best low cost reliable tow vehicle.

Some models/years of the Saturn View are "4 down tow-able".
I've towed 2 different Saturn 4 door sedans for a total of nearly 100k miles with N problems.

Hi Steeler34,
Consider the GMC ENVOY with 4 wheel drive. Blue OX has base plates for the car. Putting the transfer case into neutral is the turn of a switch and run through the gears. The car is very comfortable to ride in and drive. The car is very rugged with heavy duty everything. We have a lot of fun with ours.

All good choices, for my money, the CRV works.
However, Low Cost and No Hassle are two words that don't quite fit into the RV Vocabulary.
