M & G Car Braking System for Diesel Class A
I am researching a new breaking system for my Fleetwood Providence diesel. The easiest to use seems to be the M & G Engineering system. I am not able to find much online discussion about their system, however.
I am anxious to hear pros and cons from any current users of the M & G car breaking system.
Thanks, wiljones

I have used the M&G system for several past cars and tomorrow I plan to install a new one in our Honda CRV. I really like the system.
What are your questions?

Welcome to IRV2
I have used the M&G brake system on both a gas and now a diesel. I really like the system. I have never had any problems with it.
I didn't want anything in the way on the floor.
I just hook up the air line and done. I just put a piece of rubber over the connector to keep debris out when not towing.

I was considering a M&G Engineering Braking System for our newly acquired MADP so I sent them an email enquiring about an installation at the FMCA rally in Redmond in August. M&G promptly sent a reply saying that installation of their braking system would be available through their dealer ALWAYS SHINY WHEELS AND RV.
I sent Always Shiny an email and received a surprising response. They recommended I go with an Air Force One system instead of the M&G system, stating the M&G fits into fewer cars now due to the reduced amount of space available in the engine compartment. I know the M&G will fit inside my toad ('08 CR-V) making their response even more astounding with M&G making the introduction to them.
In the end I decided to go with an AFO system and I have booked the installation but with a different dealer.

I have a 2014 CRV Honda toad to pull behind a 2013 HR Ambassador. Had the M&G system installed at their facility in Texas on a trip to Louisiana from Albuquerque. System has worked flawlessly and I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. M&G has a great product and were very helpful.

Why would you want to install a breaking system? Why do you want to break your coach?
Or are you talking about a braking system? That would make more sense. ;-)

Take a look at the SMI Air Force One. The only system out there that meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for tapping into the air brake system. We've had the same system on 3 coaches and 2 toads and wouldn't use any other. Well over 150,000 tow miles on it.

Used a M&G for over 100,000 miles of trouble free towing. I consider it the best out there for ease of use and simplicity.
If you can get one to fit your vehicle, go for it.

I have the SMI Air Force One unit. I wanted to buy the M&G, but sometimes you are limited by the tow vehicle. In order to use the M&G unit, you have to room around the master cylinder for it to fit. When I was shopping, I had Dodge Dakota truck and the M&G wouldn't fit.
With that said, I still think the M&G is a great unit, but if you change toads, you have to buy another master cylinder unit. The SMI unit can be moved from vehicle to vehicle.

Have been using the M&G system for 7 years and 60K miles. Works like a charm and take seconds to hook up. Others have reported the system can be moved to a different vehicle if you change toweds. I recall reading one post from a user who got a new towed and there were issues with transferability. He called M&G and they sent him a replacement in exchange at no charge.
Having a CRV, I've read any number of posts from folks that have dead batteries when using one of the "break-in-a-box" systems. This has never been an issue with the M&G system.

Have used the M & G for 8 years on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, no problems and very easy hook up.

I bought the AFO system and after looking at all the wires and and electronics...decided to send it back for a 90% refund. A professional towing shop told me they always install the M & G system behind a diesel pusher if the towed vehicle has real estate available under the hood. It has been working flawlessly for us over the last 2 years/22,000 miles.
I don't buy into the fear over tapping into a rear wheel brake line on the coach. Has anybody ever heard of this "non-approved" modification failing and actually causing an accident...by losing one corner of coach braking?
I don't care about transferring the system to another vehicle. I spent a fortune on the base plate, driveshaft disconnect and brake light wiring...and they are going to stay with it.
I decided to keep it simple. Easy to install, quick to hook up. No maintenance, no mysterious black box to quit working. The brakes on the towed work in proportion to the brakes on the coach.
