Magnetic tow lights

I just bought a tow dolly that has it's own lights. Doing some research, I found that this is not enough in many states, because my vehicle will be at least four feet behind the lights, and thus requires it's own lights.
The easiest way to achieve this would be a set of the magnetic lights on the back of the vehicle.
I searched Amazon and found that I can get lights for a price between $20 and $300. reading through the ratings, I found that many lights, regardless of their price, have a magnetic base that seems not to be strong enough, and tend to be blown of the toad.
Do you guys have any experience with magnetic tow lights and can recommend some that stay on the vehicle and not get blow to the ground once the setup is moving?

Any advise and information is really welcome!

I've seen folks use a light bar in the trailer hitch of the toad.

Even a trunk mount bike rack could be a place to mount lights back there.

I often think about doing something and then just go with the dolly lights.

I have a Towmate and love it. Wireless transmission from the coach to my Jeep. The magnets are super strong and do not mar the roof of my Grand Cherokee. Not cheap but worth every penny as far as I’m concerned.

Magnetic Tow Lights

12 years and counting with magnetic lights. Purchased at Harbor Freight for $9.99. My $50.00 set did not have a cord that was long enough. Hugh

Do you have this set? They are sure on the pricy side!

I like the trailer hitch idea, one just would have to rig something up, wide enough to reach both sides of the vehicle. I need to think about that one for a while!
One could install standard trailer lights in such a bar!

I have a SUV and trunk mounted bike rack don't work that well.

I have a set I've used successfully for 10+ years. Was not an expensive set - maybe $25 or so.

I have several sets of magnetic mount lights from Harbor Fright. One for a utility trailer with bad wiring in it. One for the toad.

On the car I ran the wires under the rug and through the firewall all the way to grill. I just open the back door of the car and stick the lights on the roof and close the door. Up front I use a seven pin to four pin adapter to plug into the car connector dangling below the grill.

this may or may not be legal... but we just mount ours to the inside of the rear split doors on our MINI clubman. (after adding a metal plate).

I've used the HF magnetic lights for several years with no problem. The only thing I had to do to them was put a heavier plug on the cable.

x2 on Towmate. When we bought our Class A used, it was included in the purchase. Towmate has a life-time guarantee and it transferred automatically to us. We have requested parts a couple of times from them and received them with no problem. They were very helpful and told US about the warranty. We didn't even know about it--had just called them for a replacement light. It is very durable and definitely will not blow off.

That would not work for me because of the slope of the hatch my SUV has

Does the vehicle you are towing have a seven pin trailer plug?
If so why can't you make up a harness with male plug on each end and plug in one end to the tow vehicle and the other plug into the towed vehicle plug?
You would simply be back feeding the towed vehicle system.
I've never tried it so it is just a thought.
