Mini Cooper for toad

With all the hot rodded cars I got there was only one that I might have towed with motorhome with car dolly, 68 corvette. But I decided to go out and purchase a 2003 mini cooper supercharged. The purchase was a good price and it runs like a little go cart on steroids. 80 thou miles on engine, Its perfect for us.

Put a 15% reduction pully on the supercharger like I did and it will scream.

We have a 70 Corvette with a 454 as well as a couple more that my husband flat tows. But when just vacationing we car dolly our 2012 Mini Clubman SS. Bought a 2008 specifically to tow ended up using it as my daily driver...traded it for a 2012...love it!

Ours is a 2002 Super Charged Mini that goes where it is towed. Sanford P. S. When towing we turn key on and then off, but do NOT pull key out and the steering wheel will turn while towing with NO battery drain.

Can a standard shift early 2000 era Mini be towed flat without a lot of hockey pockey regarding transmission lubrication pumps and such? I'm currently towing a 2005 Caravan as my exploration vehicle but a Mini would be so much more fun!

Out of curiosity I ran some searches and couldn't find any information prior to 2002. Maybe you can find an owners manual and see what it says about towing.

Mini came to the US in 2002. Before that it was mostly European due to emissions factors and even enjoyed several years in the 60s climbing to the top spot in rally racing. Most, if not all, manuals can be flat towed - not sure about more recent models. The North American Motoring website has great info on towing and what not. They are as helpful and friendly as folks here.

I have an 04 Cooper S taking its maiden voyage behind my new to me MH in 2 weeks. I got Roadmaster brackets at $400 for the front (easy to put on) and picked up a used tow bar from Craigslist for $200. A set of magnetic lights for $25 and I'm ready to roll!

Oh, don't forget to buy the rubber plugs for the brackets or else they'll collect water and an adapter for the 7way to 4way wiring for lights. Etrailer has it all.

I've had a number of cars, but my '06 Cooper S convert is in my top five for sure. At some point we're planning on setting up as a toad - just haven't needed to yet.

Correct for the "New" Mini that is owned by BMW. This is a completely different and larger vehicle than the original Mini, designed by Alec Issigonis (from BMC - British Motor Corp, later British Leyland) that was sold in the U.S way back in the 1960's. The original Mini was designed as an economy car but John Cooper, a British race car manufacturer, added some performance goodies and the Mini Cooper was born.
