Mini Cooper Toads

Looking for a small toad and charmed by the Mini Countryman. Have read some reports of "Loves" for these little cars, but I'm looking for comments from folks who have not been entirely pleased by the Mini's themselves or as toads. What don't you like about them?

We tow a Mini Countryman S Auto on a Tow Dolly. It's the wife's car and she loves it. It's a 2012 with about 25k miles and had no problems. We ordered it and that takes about 2 months for it to arrive from over the pond.

A member of our camping club has a 2 door that is turbo charged and uses a tow dolly to tow it. He said the turbo location stops a base plate from being attached. I think if I really wanted any of the Mini's I would trailer it. Dave

The only drawback on our Mini is the back seat will only hold small people but in our case that is not a drawback. Ours is not a Countryman and I don't know how much space there is in the back of one of those. Might be a non issue for you.

I should have been more specific. I would like to tow a Mini 4 down and would appreciate words of wisdom from those who do so now. Can a AWD be driven 4 down? Any particular problems with the tow? How reliable has the car been?

I tow a 2009 mini JCW convert 6 speed manual 4 wheel down. Used the blueox system works great. You can hardly notice, the base plate with the two hooks coming through the grill. Great car tons of fun!

I have a 2005 mini convertible with 5 speed manual that we tow 4 down. Use the Blue Ox system also. Car has been very reliable and very easy to tow.

I read that if standard shift it can be towed four down but if automatic transmission no. Not knowing the year you have or are looking for I ran it as a 2012. That is what REMCO says on its website. Store : Remco
You can run a search on that site.

Mini Towing

Thanks to all for your experiences. I'm convinced and will begin the hunt for a used Mini Countryman.

My 2006 Cooper S convertible 6 speed standard is FANTASTIC! Have Forest River Lexington 2013 with 23000 miles and prefer NOT to have others travel with me so I can tow Mini.
