You make a good point about the ride, yet there is one more factor to consider if you use a Mini as a TOAD - if a flat develops while towing, and remember the weight is small compared to large vehicles, you may not notice it right away (albeit if using a Tire Monitoring System you would). The run flats give you a margin of safety that may provide a difference.

Just a thought.

I do use the TMS, but even so, when I replaced my tires, I stayed with the run flats for that reason.

I just replaced the tires on our mini - the recommendation was to install run flats because (he said) the Mini does not have a spare and you use run flat to get you you home or to a safe place. Our Mini does have a spare, a jack & lug wrench under the rear compartment so I opted to not use run flats.
