Hi all. Took the motorhome out for our first trip this weekend. The Ready brake performed well. I was concerned that when making a tight turn, the cable drops slack. I called and spoke with Night Shift Auto about this. Thier response did make sense, that in making a tight turn, you will already be at a slow speed, and not really needing to slow the toad down. The only disadvantage I found is that a few times as I crested certain hills that dropped quickly on the other side, the cable would pull tight and apply the brake as the hitch flexed during the crest. This only happened occasionally, and did not last long enough to alarm me. ( I gathered all these details by keeping a close eye on my indicator light)
I was able to put the brake through the most important test however.
I was coming down a 2 lane road in a hilly area with a drop off to my right, when 4 deer decided to run out in front of me.
All I could do was hit the brakes and pray.
The prayer, and the brake both worked. I was able to avoid hitting the first 3, and the fourth one turned and went back.
If he would have kept on I would have got him.
So on a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the Ready Brake a 7. I rate it a little low, cause I have a light little 93 Saturn Toad, and I am unsure how the system may work with something like a Jeep or Suburban. Someone else will have to test that out.
