Question Need a dolly

I have been looking for a used dolly around NE. I prefer one with brakes but can't find one. There are many for sale on craigs list without brakes so i have been thinking if so many available are they really necessar to haul a honda civic at 2700 lbs

I would never tow without breaks. States have varying laws about when you need breaks on a tow and you must have that equipment when you pass through the states.

I live in NE as well and looked and waited all spring. One guy in CT had one and I drove down to look at it. The idiot sold it to someone else while I was heading his way, knowing I was coming. Didn't even call to tell me and wasn't home when I got to this house after traveling 2 hours. Done ranting. Wound up ordering from cartowdolly.com. Been very satisfied. Delivered in a couple of days, set up was easy as is use. Highly recommend.

FWIW I just looked at the Rochester, NY Craigslist. Several including some from east of here. Some do not mention brakes but I can see the drums. That would tell me you might need to inquire. Some can be retrofitted. Stehl tow is shipped with out brakes but the dealer can install either electric or the other kind. It might be worth it to you to try some locations and drive a bit.

I picked up a Stehl Tow, with surge brakes, for $1700.00, last year.

They have dealers in NE.

Hi I just purhased a used demco kar kaddy 360 with serge brakes. I know when i purchased it that the brakes didn't work had a broken brake line. But when I started to fix them everything was either bad or missing pulled the brake drums and there was nothing inside. So it looks like I am going to be out about $300 in parts including new brake lines to get them working. With what I payed for it that will put me about $1000 in it still ok. If you buy used check it out. James

Ed, What year Civic are you looking at. Many Hondas can be flat towed.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

It's not about the law it's about safety. Like I have said before( It's better to have and not need than to need and not have).
