Need Brake Buddy help

I just installed my BrakeBuddy select in my Ford Explorer.

1. The instruction state to attach the petal unit on the brake pedal and then push down the red tab hard until it locks. I have not been able to get a positive click that it is locked no mater how I adjust it of push on the tab. I dont't want to break it. Advice?

2. When adjusting my seat and using the test activation, the BB unit moves and is no longer parallel to the seat after it retracts. It is about 10 degrees from parallel. Seems to work correctly, but is this normal.

Leaving in the morning, so advice will be appreciated, as this is my first time towing a toad.

When they say punch down on the tab they should really say pull back. The tab should rotate back toward you and the rod coming out of the BB. It gets progressively harder and stays in place but does not really lock or positively click. To get the BB to stay parallel the seat has to be adjusted pretty close so the rod does not move much without the petal moving and the seat must be positioned to contact the padded bar on the BB very solidly. After you get it positioned correctly watch and make sure the brake lights go out when the BB releases otherwise the BB is set up to tight. You'll get the hang of it.

Hi

On my brake buddy my pedal latch doesn't click to a positive lock, it's a pretty poor pedal set up, try opening the jaw abit, it helps abit but like you said it doesn't click to a positive lock but I have never had it pop open. Maybe a rubber O-ring or something to slide over the latch might give you piece of mind. I'm going to fix mine somehow.

Thanks Steve and Dale. I just put a velcro strap over the red lever just for my peace of mind. As to the BB unit not touching the seat evenly, I tried moving the seat up a tad, but then the brake lights stayed on, so I had to back it up slightlly. It seems that it has to be at an angle to actite the brake pedal.

I had to bend the retaining clip slightly (as instructions state) to make it fit. I used a pair of pliers and a little muscle. As far as unit riding up try cutting a 1/4" thick piece of plywood or particle board to fit between the brake buddy and seat. I used a piece of abrasive tape like what is used on entry step to grip the BB and prevent it from riding up.
