Need HELP - 2012 Ford Focus & Brake Lights

Hopefully some 2012 Focus owners can help. Have a 2012 Focus SE. Just trying out my Patriot brake system for the first time and now my head is really sore now after trying and trying to set it up but the brake lights wouldn't come on. Then I discovered they only work with the engine running.

Setting up the Patriot requires adjustments using the brake lights as a guide. My brake lights will not come on if the engine isn't running. Wouldn't be a problem to set the Patriot up with the car running except that the Patriot goes in after the car is ready for towing which means there is no power (for the brake lights). Starting the car takes the tranny out of towing mode. The Patriot can't be done before towing setup because I need to apply the brake for setting up the tranny for towing. Does any one know how I can set this up?

I'm stuck and I have to get this done real soon.

Thanks,
Steve

It s all good now

I looked at the videos on YouTube and it simply shows them all hitting the setup button and never doing the manual adjustments that the manual has you going through.

Thanks anyway.
