Have you read the trucks owner manual? Look for something like "recreational towing"

Towing Harley F150

Check out the website for REMCO. They are recommended by FMCA for towing info. Website: Remco : The Towing Experts Look at the top left of their towing page info and you can enter your vehicle Yr, Model, etc. With your "shift on the fly" 4x4 they say you need a driveshaft disconnect unit. Check it out for yourself. Good Luck! And that will be a great Toad!

Normally you can tow four wheels down if the transfer case has a neutral position.

old manMR,
Unfortunately for you, Ford, in its infinite wisdom, did not allow for any of it's F-150 4x4 models/fleet, be flat towed, all the way up until the model year 2012. In 2012, they re-engineered both the ECM and transfer case so there is a NEUTRAL in it. Then, with a series of steps, NEUTRAL is achieved and, you're ready for flat towing. But, your year model is NOT FLAT TOWABLE.

If it were, your owners manual would lay out, all the steps and procedure for getting it ready for "Recreational Towing". Your choices:

1. Lay under the truck and disconnect and re-connect drive shafts (ugh! not for me)
2. Full sized flat trailer
3. Get a 2012 or newer Ford F-150 4x4.
