Need new top for your Jeep?

Went to local Bestop dealer to get replacement softop/skin for our worn out Sunrider top. Dealer said replacement top only not available. Hum that did not souind right. I see replacement top advertised. I checked with BESTOP and this is the answer.

Thank you for writing.
Unfortunately the Sunrider is only available with the hardware, you can not buy just the top skin to the Sunrider separately. I apologize.
Thank You

Sure hope Goodyear and others don't hear about this sales policy, we could end up having to buy rims with tires! Guess it is time to vote with my money. Bye - Bye BESTOP.

What did they do? Manufacture the top so that the cloth is permanently attached to the hardware?

Certainly disappointing and maybe poor engineering. Glad they didn't design the stock top that way (Replace-a-top). It's bad enough at $400.

What are you considering changing to?

Don't remember best online price for Sunrider I found but it was over $600 vs $400 or so as you say for stock. From what I remember about original installation there is no reason fabric can't be replaced in field. Can buy Pavement Ends flip top for under $500 ( that does include hardware which I would need to change MFG). Which in my mind makes Bestop policly even dumber.
Hard part for me is I really like the quick opening sunroof type of operation. I can open/close it at a stop light without getting out. Whatever I change to it WON'T be Bestop.
