Need some opinions here - Blue Ox

Last year (well, 11 months ago to be exact) I purchased a Blue Ox Avail tow bar, blue ox receiver hitch for our Jeep Wrangler, a Patriot braking system and a few other blue ox accessories.

I wanted some rock protection for the toad so I also purchased a Karguard II (had to get the II because the Avail is 5" longer than the other towbars Blue Ox makes) that is a soft mesh protector that goes from the bumper of our rig to the bumper of the toad.

Unfortunately on one of our trips we bottomed out on a hump and bent the front bar on the Karguard so I called to order parts today and was told by Blue Ox they discontinued that model and have ZERO parts for it and that I could check around at e-trailer and some of their "larger" retailers to see if they have any leftover parts, but if not I was (pardon the French), SOL, which turned out to be the case after I called around today.

I have to say that really doesn't sit well with me. I purchase an accessory and less than one year later you can't get parts for it? I know Blue Ox enjoys a pretty good reputation for customer service, but I am not real happy right now.

I do have a call in to a senior service representative who I hope to catch up with next week.

Now I do realize it was my fault for damaging the piece, and I am happy to pay for the part, but since there are none and the Karguard II is basically useless now, what is reasonable to ask for from Blue Ox??

Since you have the same setup as I do I ran another problem with Blue Ox. Turn on your turn signal on the coach and check your tail lights on your Jeep and they should be flashing. Now take the remote for the Patriot II and test the brakes. When the Patriot II pushes on the brake pedal the turn signal will wash out and not blink. Called Blue Ox the tech support told me how often do you put on the brakes with the turn signal on. LOL

You need one of these. https://www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Bra.../RM-88400.html I put one on my Jeep Wrangler and that solved the problem.

HMMMMM. the fact that YOU damaged the part is beside the point. The issue here is you purchased a piece of equipment from a "reputable" Company less than a year ago and can not find a replacement part.
I would put the monkey on their back. Have THEM call their retailers and find you the part you need.
I have run my own business for 30+ years, I would never leave a customer out in the cold like that, If they call me with a problem like this I make the phone calls.

I wanted to follow up with this and post that Blue OX absolutely exceeded my expectations by actually manufacturing the part that I needed to have replaced. It took a little work to finally get someone who could help me, but I'm glad my perseverance paid off.

Thank you Blue OX!!!

RoadMaster has a wiring setup to address that problem. A relay and some connections to make. Or, my Country Coach has a "tow board" with jumpers to set that cures the problem.
