Backing up is not an issue. Simply drop the Two Reverse Pins into their slot and that locks the axle so you only pivot on the ball like you normally would. Yes, the tires skid sideways but it has no real effect on anything (unless you backup like 55 mph ;-)

As for all the worry some people have about being over the Combined Gross Weight Rating....yes, you will be over that but with trailer brakes, common sense and regular maintenance...I have been abut 10,000-lbs over on all 6 of my motor homes for the last 25 years and no issues, accidents or problems.

Definitely avoid having an accident...there are plenty of hungry lawyers out there!!!

I just picked up my dream motorcycle (HD Ultra Glide Classic) and now need to figure out how to tandem tow it along with my car.
The car is a 2007 Jeep Liberty and has a curb weight of 4,000 pounds. The motorcycle weighs 800 pounds.
The motor home that will be towing it is a 2005 Itasca Suncrusier with the Vortec 8.1 engine on a Workhorse chassis. The tow hitch on the Suncruiser is rated at 5,000 pounds. Here are the specs on the motor home weights:
What are my options to get both the bike and car towed behind my motor home??
Thanks!
Interesting that you are 2424# under your GVWR yet only have 877# CCC? That leaves 1547# unaccounted for? BTW his tow rating is 4000# PLUS any CCC not used on the coach. As long as the GCWR is under 26,0000 he can tow up to the hitch rating. My first thought would be flatbed trailer however the Jeep + Harley + trailer is going to likely exceed the hitch. I carry a 250# dirt bike on a frame mounted rack + 4400# toad. I'm under the GCWR but not by a lot.

Sorry I dropped off line for awhile... I need to get weighed again but am currently in AZ as a workcamper till end of March. I should be able to see what the data sheet says from the factory to get it close.
Seems like mixed feedback on if I can tandem tow or not.... Still researching.
Check the owners manual on your jeep, but unless you have a 2 wheel drive, a dolly is probably not a option. 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive require 4 down or a trailer.

Difficult to give you solid advice without hard information of weights. The weights you have given are calculated or estimated.
Need to know the weight of the jeep and Harley and trailer. Without empirical data I would suggest you will be over the tow capacity and GCVW of the MH. Tow capacity is not only the hitch but the frame, drive train, etc for the MH.

Without actually weighing the Jeep and Harley this is the best/closest numbers I could find:
