New 2017 Honda CRV bigger but not towable

Just read about 2017 Honda CRV - bigger and still uses cvt transmission - so new Honda CRV is still not towable 4 down.

I doubt that they will EVER be towable 4-down again!

There's no surprise about that. CVTs enable manufacturers to obtain higher MPG ratings. I seriously doubt that you'll ever see a towable CRV again. The RVer market is way too small for a company the size of Honda to care about losing it.

It would be nice if you were able to order one that was towable 4 down with an optional transmission.

You wouldn't want to see the price of a special order transmission vehicle or the problems you'd have with servicing and parts.

Towing a vehicle is not the vehicle manufacturers concern.

If you're set on a Honda CRV, I suggest you grab a gently used 2014 or older.
Right now.....they're still out there if you look around.

Where is the rest of the list?....(the 2017 Honda CRV can't be the only 2017 car that's not towable 4 down).

Every year there are fewer cars with auto trans that can be towed. Some that are available have lots of problems. Jeeps and Colorado's come to mind. Are there any foreign mfrs. that approve towing with an auto trans?

If you google "dinghy towing guide" it lists the various vehicles that can be flat towed. The list changes year to year so be careful what you read.

As always.....make sure you read the owners manual about flat towing....often listed in the manual as "Recreational towing" for details about various choices even within the same model year.

The biggest problem is with automatic transmission vehicle choices becoming less and less each year. Read carefully.

I know how to find a towable vehicle.

I was simply wondering why allegro1x only reported that the 2017 Honda CRV is not towable when there are so many other vehicle that are not towable 4 down.

Friend of mine is selling his MH and '14 CR-V, hope to make a deal on the CR-V when he slows down enough to meet up!
