Hi! I'm a first time RVer and my wife and I recently purchased a 2004 Tiffin Allegro 32BA motorhome. We have had 2 very successful excursions to my wifes' dog agility competitions in Florida where we live. I am a golfer who would like to go off to the nearest golf course on these trips and am considering purchasing a vehicle to pull with 4 wheels down. I have a 2008 Ford Escape that you supposedly can tow 4 wheels down but have read some horror stories on the internet about burned up transmissions on the Escape after being towed. Has anyone had any experiences like this with the Escape? Also can anyone tell me whether a Jeep Liberty 4wdr (automatic or manual, 2005-2010) can be towed 4 wheels down? Thanks, John

Glad to have you here. There are several sites that will give you the low down on towing 4 down. Generally with jeeps is if it has a tranny with a neutral for the transfer case you will have no problems. FMCA also has a list of cars that can be towed that way. Good luck and Happy Trails!

I have a 2007 Liberty (automatic 4wd) and set it up to tow 4 down. The manual gives instructions to place transfer case in neutral and transmission in park. Have only done one tow so far (100 miles) and all worked well.

Thanks for the info.! I have been looking at several Jeep Liberties, but apparently not all years have a neutral setting in the transfer case. I will see if I can find a 2007.
