I'm thinking of buying a new toad that will also serve as DW's everyday vehicle.
She wants some type of upscale SUV.
What do you recommend?

It would be useful to include more details such as motorhome make/model, installed hitch rating, current tow bar rating, etc. Also, what's "upscale?" That can mean different things to different people. Finally, how do you intend to use the toad? Is it 90% daily driver and 10% toad or the reverse? Do you need/want 4WD capabilities, how many passengers, is price an issue? No offense but, as posed, your question is pretty open ended.

Check out the GMC Acadia or its Buick/Chevy cousins.

I have the Roadmaster brackets installed which you cant really see when not towing. I also have the Roadmaster Invisibrake installed neatly in a compartment in the trunk.

Also a consideration is whether you want to flat tow or would consider a dolly.

Go with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. It's a great vehicle.

Lincoln MKX are upscale and towable.

2014 or newer Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk or any of the other new Cherokees with Active Drive II are flat towable. The ride nice and tow well. They seat 4 adults comfortably and still can carry some things I the rear. Yes they are more of a crossover but they sit a bit higher than a regular car and not as tall as SUV.

I was going to recommend a Jeep Wrangler until I saw the word, "upscale"

. The Grand Cherokee is a nice vehicle that I would personally choose over other brands. At the top end of the price and luxury scale, you can also tow a Cadillac Escalade, but that's a pretty large and heavy toad. But I've seen them on the road behind Prevosts.

Make sure the manual says the vehicle can be flat towed, and insist on looking through it. Most manuals now have a section specifically for flat towing, and will specify whether or not flat towing is permitted. Don't take the word of the salesperson or even the service manager. If anything happens related to towing, and the manual doesn't approve the vehicle for flat towing, the warranty will not cover it.

Sorry, I've always been told I come across like "Sgt Joe Friday" but, in my mind, I'm just trying to get all the facts. Now that I'm retired, I need to try harder to back off. Thanks for pointing out that I'm still "grilling" people.

Well, if I were pulling it with a Newmar and it was for the DW, then I would have to go with the 2016 Range Rover...

Plus, at 512HP, you might be able to pull your motorhome, if you have a breakdown...

Just messing with you. It was actually a great post, well written and right on point. I don't mind at all when I get a response like that to my questions. It helps guide the discussion to get to a resolution much quicker. I almost used the quote from Joe Friday... "Just the facts mam, just give me the facts" after I read your post so I had a good chuckle when I saw your Joe Friday comment.

It is a great post! How many times have we seen a question asked about a problem with ones motor home or toad, and ZERO information was given by the OP to help people answer the question? It's just a lot nicer if an OP (not necessarily this one) would put down pertinent information about the situation/coach/make/model year/toad/generator type-size/ and more so that folks that have experience with whatever problem or issue a given OP might have, can help easier.
