Have a 2010 CRV want to get a 2014 CRV. If I trade the 2010 in will the dealer lower the trade-in value if I do not take the tow bracket off the front. Anyone have experience with this issue. 2014 requires a different bracket.

Trading in a vehicle , that's still set up to flat tow , could be seen as a selling feature, by some dealers . If your dealing with a Honda dealership , they may have customers already looking for units like that.

When we unloaded our 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for our 2010 CR-V we obviously took all removable parts off (just like when we came off the road). I doubt anyone would notice if they didn't know what they were looking for. I'd like to be so bold as to suggest 2 things. First, I bet you could easily sell, and get a much better price for, your current vehicle if you advertised as a already prepped as a dinghy. Secondly, why are you getting rid of it? I get new caritis like crazy. I can relate to that. Our 2010 is just shy of 100k miles. At a previous service, I asked the service writer about replacement engines/transmissions, etc. He looked at me like I was crazy. I told him I figured I could get 200k out of it. His reply was that if I keep taking care of it like I have been . . . Double it. Looking at the other vehicle out there that are flat towable behind a gas
coach . . . The towable CR-V's will likely become highly sought after. I like to say, I will never get jeeped again.

I've always heard that Honda dealers don't want that baseplate on there because they don't want a potential customer to think the transmission may be damaged, and will take it off after you trade it in. Not sure how that would affect the trade-in value. Just ask them.

If they are going to take it off, ask them to give it back to you. You can probably sell it on the IRV2 Classifieds, Craigslist, or E-Bay!

BIL traded in a 2013 CRV. Dealer gave him a extra $500 because it was setup to tow. It's as good as story I have heard about trading in a toad.
