Please help. Looking at pulling a 2002 Nissan frontier 4x4 4 down. Some say it can't be done others say yes. Will I need to add anything to disconnect rear end. I have neutral in the transfer case.

I just looked quick on the net and from what I found the rear drive shaft has to disconnected if it is a automatic. Maybe someone that has towed one will be able to help you out better.

Well dang, Remco Towing changed their website and you cannot look up vehicles anymore. Give them a call and see what it takes to tow your Nissan.

Strictly an opinion, but I thought if you had neutral position in the transfer case, it could be towable four down irregardless of transmission type. I would trust the owners manual intructions before any opinion here or aftermarket websites.

Edited to add: Found the owners manual online, and it doesn't address recreational towing, so disregard above comments.

If you have Neutral on your Xfer case, I don't see whay you would need to disco the driveshaft. Think about it, in Neutral, you are not engauged to anything.

I use a 2011 Nissan Frontier Manual transmission 2-wheel drive as a Toad. The manual that came with it explicitly states it's ok to tow it, just run it's motor for several minutes every 500 miles.

To set up flat towing all the kits manufacturers ask questions, the Nissan does the following:
--The ignition lock has a unlock only key position.
--The brake lights come on when when the ignition is off (and the brake pedal is depressed).
--The rear end of the truck has separate [from the brake light] turn signal lights.

Just a thought, but I wonder if maybe the owners manual in 02 did not address the issue of recreational towing simply because it was not as common an issue 10 years ago? Providing there is a nuetral position in the transfer case, I still don't see a problem.
