Nissan Frontier Safety Chain Question

Just got a '17 Nissan Frontier and had the baseplate installed Tuesday. Tows like a charm. The only issue I have is the safety cable attachment. The safety cables are looped around the frame rails just behind the baseplate. This makes it a real PITA to hook up the safety chains. (My previous towed had the tow hooks still attached so it was very easy to get to.)

I don't need to overthink this. My first solution is to get a couple of additional safety chain links to add to the frame attached cable... but thought I'd check with this group to see if there's something I'm missing.

Thanks!

Thanks for the PMs. A couple of extra links did the trick.

Chuck, I didn't know you could tow a Frontier 4-down. Is it a standard transmission?

I don't know what the OP has, but we towed a 2010 Nissan Frontier 4x4 with an automatic. I installed a driveshaft disconnect. It was a nice toad. I always use Roadmaster baseplates and they came with cable connectors built-in.

'17 Frontier with annual transmission. Easy tow..just put it in neutral and key on ACC 2 to unlock steering.

Don, the blue ox BP does have safety cable connections...I was in a hurry last week and looking in the wrong place. My previous towed still had the recovery hooks on the frame and I used those instead. The Frontier required removal of the recovery hooks.
