Odor after towing

I am towing a Nissan Altima on a Kar Kaddy SS. i noticed after getting to my destination (about 8 hours) that when starting the car there was a burnt rubber smell for a short time. Same thing after I got home. I did make some hard stops while traveling both times, but not sure if they would have been hard enough for the surge brakes to lock the tires. I found no evidence of dolly tires rubbing and there was no small any time I was back there during stops.

Any ideas?

Next time touch the tires and hubs to see if there getting hot, that includes the rear axel of the car.

Yeah, I've noticed that too....I've come to the conclusion that the toad is catching road grime that's thrown up onto the cars exhaust from the MH and is burning it off whenever the toad is used.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it..

I used the same dolly and every time I started up after towing would smell a rubber like odor each time I checked the car it was fine. After driving the car around the odor would leave. Found out the smell is common and I have it now on my present toad and it is being towed 4 down. The smell is from road grime, fine rubber dust, and oils pick up on the under carriage and exhaust and being burnt off when started and driven. Nothing to worry about unless it does not go away after a few minutes of starting the toad and driving it around.

Have experienced the same "burnt rubber smell" and was told it is rubber particles coming from the MH. At this rate I wonder how long my tires will last

This is a normal smell. Don't woory about it because you can't change it and no harm is being done. I've had it with 3 different toads over a 12 year period.
