I've read on the Jeep Forums that plastic washers or clips are used on the transfer case shifter. If they break, you can't shift. It's recommended to keep a few on hand (less than a dollar each at dealer). Hope this helps.

I ended up with a 2010 Subaru outback, manual transmission, and it was very reasonably priced. Very happy with it.

X2 on the Grand Cherokee problems with the transfer case now after the recall is done. If you can get one that did not have the N23 recall done, then it is a GREAT tow vehicle.
I also have a Town and Country that I used to tow. Had problems with transmission overheating. May install a trans cooler if Jeep does not fix the xfer case problem...

We've towed our '05 Grand Cherokee Limited (5.7 hemi engine) for over 50,000 miles with no problems. Plus we throw about 500 lbs of tools in the back of it for work. It has 163,000 miles plus the flat tow miles.
We just ordered a '14 Grand Cherokee Overland (3.0 diesel) to replace the old one.
Grand Cherokees are the only towed we look at.

Wrangler.
Go where the madding crowd does not.
See the wildlife and scenery that they will not.
Why be ordinary?

You can tow a Town & Country wheels down by leaving it in neutral with the engine idling. That how the Cross the Border Boys tow them from Wisconsin to Mexico. Eddie Elk.

Nice pics! My first car ever was a wrangler.
But I tell ya, I'd dare that trail in my outback, not sure how I'd fair, but I would do it
