We have a 2006 Toyota Avalon (front wheel drive) with about 65000 miles on it, and are thinking about using it for our toad. I have tried the dolly route and don’t like it, so I’m looking at towing 4 down with a Remco lube pump. I’ve read lots of pros and cons here and on other forums about lube pumps performance and reliability, but have not seen anything about the long-term effects of towing on the vehicle itself.
I know we will wear the tires, but how about wear on other parts and systems. Has anyone experience any unusual problems caused by towing a front wheel drive car 4 down? Assuming the lube pump does its job without failure, are there other things to worry about? Alignment, struts or suspension, fluids, anything else?
Thanks.
