Problem with KIA toad ??
Last week, we took a short overnight trip to check out our new dolly with the KIA loaded, so we could find any issues... The only issue we found was that with the key in the ignition to keep the wheel lock open, you can not lock the doors of the vehicle ??? I would really like to have the doors locked, so I'm looking for the solution. Any thoughts ???
Bill

Don't know about the Kia, but with my Odyssey you can not lock the doors by pushing the button and closing. However you can lock them with another key from the outside.

We flat tow a manual transmission Soul. The key is turned off but not pulled from the ignition to keep the wheel unlocked. So you have to leave the key in the ignition, then at the drivers door hit the power lock button. This locks all the doors except the drivers door. Close the drivers door and lock it with your second key. You're good to go.

X2. Outside door key lock should do it. Seems kind of old fashioned now. Can't remember the last vehicle I had that didn't have a remote.

I don't lock my toad, nor storage bins while towing. In case of emergency I want everything available.
If we stop to eat, etc I remove the keys and lock the bins.
One of the advantages of doing it this way is it forces you to walk around the coach and car thereby allowing you to discover any problems that may have cropped up.

Bill why would you want to unlock your wheel as that is a good way to pull your straps off the tires in a sharp turn or any turn really, the swivel will take care of the turn. Keep your tires straight forward with the straps tight.

I use an EzeTow dolly which does not have a swivel base, instead it turns the wheel of the car ?
I tried the manual lock method and that works fine, problem solved !!!
Thanks everyone

Because the Kia is to smart. It won't lock with the remote if there's a key in the ignition.
Also an interesting think about Korean cars I've had, when you use the remote to unlock the doors if you don't open one in about 20 seconds it automatically re locks.

It's smarter than me, that's for sure ! I also found that if you lock with a key, you must unlock with a key, remote will not work !!!
