Protection for towed vehicles
Looking to purchase a tow vehicle protector. What seems to be the best one out there? Is it the fabric or the shield? Does the fabric one interfere with the generator exhaust? All info will be appreciated. Thanks
LoAnn

This is a link to the only one I've seen that I thought was worthwhile. I've seen a couple of people with them and have talked to the owners - they love them. No, I don't own one, but after I seriously scratched the windshield on my toad this summer, I'll buy one before our next long trip.

We have this one and love it. It took a couple of times of putting in on the car to stretch it out, now its just takes a couple of minutes to put it on the car.

BX88255 KarGard II by Blue Ox has done well for the last 10,000 miles. It has protected our Jeep Wrangler very well. Easy to roll up and unroll.

We use a Protect A Tow which works very well. However you do have to pay attention to where your exhaust is. Our comes out the corner of the MH so not problem. If it come straight out the back the the PAT may not work without some modification.

The Kar Guard doesn't come anywhere near the genny exhaust. We've had ours for 4 years and over 40,000 miles, still going strong.

We are using a Roadmaster tow bar with the Roadmaster Guardian and Roadmaster Tow Defender. Could be a bit overkill but has been great for protecting our Jeep. We have put on over 5,000 miles since June with this. Both are very easy to use and stow away on the back of the motorhome when parked.
I stayed away from the "bra" type devices as there were some reports on this forum of folks who used them having some pebbles and grit getting under the bra and scratching the toad.

Protect-a-Tow for me! Keeps the CRV clean and have not had any rock chips yet.

Your generator exhaust can be turned to exit in a different direction, we moved ours when we decided to use a Protect A Tow with our toad.

I have a Bounder DP 38V with a rear exhaust. I bought the Roadmaster Tow Defender which mounts to your hitch stinger then rolls out above your tow bar and attaches to the cross bar on the front of the towed vehicle. It is above the exhaust and has worked well for me. Check roadmaster's web site I think they have a video.
