Two places to check...the owners manual and Remco Towing products.

The manual will tell you if you can and the procedures that need to be followed.

Owners Manuals for just about every car are available free on the internet.
They are easy to find with a web search engine (Google, Yahoo etc). The link below is to a 05 PT Cruiser manual.
2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Manuals
See Pages 259 & 260: Auto Trans NO. Manual Trans YES.

PT Automatic
I have an 01 PT Cruiser automatic that has about 40,000 miles being towed. I bought the whole system from Remco - pump, lights, tow bar, and base plate. Did the install myself (except help from body shop friend for base plate). Only problem ever: impeller in pump got ate up by trans fluid, pump replace by Remco.
Still towing it. Don't know what I'll do when it quits - 118,000 mi on odo.

Thanks Dan. Been RVing for a long time and just upgraded from a 99 Diplomat to a new to me 06 Camelot. Been educating myself on the different systems. Will probably be asking some questions when I get done reading all the relevant posts. Could take awhile, already learned some things. awaiting much more. only so much an old brain can absorb at once.
