PT Cruiser with locking steering wheel

2006 PT Cruiser GT 5 speed convertible but the steering wheel locks. It must be an option. Does anyone know how to disable this lock

Welcome to iRV2! On any vehicle with a steering lock, the standard practice is to leave the key in the Accessory position while towing.

Can't for the life of me remember what year Chrysler discontinued the steering lock, probably when they went to chipped keys. When I retired in 07 the lock was still common.
My 00 mini van has the lock and I just installed a battery disconnect and leave the key in. I know , not very secure. I have the tools to disable the lock but, just figured it wasn't worth the trouble.

I see Bruce , posted while I was typing, my mini van the key has to be on to dis-able the lock.

No, but HERE is what I did to disable my 2010 Miata steering wheel lock.

I tow a 2006 pt, turn the key one notch to the right,if you go to 2nd notch you'll run battery dead.i disconnect ground cable as have arrived at destination to a dead battery ken

In some vehicles you turn key to accessory position then turn it back to off and leave key in ignition. Try various suggested combinations until wheel unlocks. Since Chrysler approves manual for towing 4 down, instructions might be in owner's manual.
