What are the opinions on best pull vehicles? We have a 2005 Tiffin Allegro and right now our only other vehicle is a 2006 Chevy 2500 HD 4Dr 4WD. I can get a base plate and towbar installed for $800, and it is supposedly ok to pull just by putting it in neutral on the push button 4WD, but would that really be my best choice? What are some of the opinions of Tow dolly, Auto transport and tow bars?

Best tow vehicle? It really is just a personal decision, economics, what you use the vehicle for when not towing, etc; We really like our Honda CR-V--light, reliable, silky smooth, roomy, comparitively inexpensive. You run through the gears before towing---need to do it every eight hours. Our has been whipping around back there for 30,000 miles no problem. We see lots of them being towed so others feel the same I'm sure.

We pull an 08 GMC 2500 HD 4x4 with two scooters and two bikes on a hitch mounted bike rack and it works perfect for us. Pulled it about 25k miles so far. Base plate is easy to mount. We use Blue Ox set up with 10k tow bar.

A second for the CRV. One of the few vehicles that tells you it's okay to tow behind a MH, there's even a section in the owner's manual describing the correct procedures.

IMHO, 3/4 ton truck is too heavy to drag around behind a MH...unless you need it to haul things (four wheelers, etc) or at your destination.

I'm not sure that many folks would say a truck that size is the "perfect toad" but it has one thing going for it... you already own it. I would certainly not go looking to buy one if I didn't already own it but other than being a bit heavy, slowing you down on hills a bit and hitting your mpg, there's no reason you can't use it.

We tow a Ford Explorer and would probably like something smaller like a CRV but with three dogs it sure is nice to have the room.

Good luck...

Don't forget the dinghy brake system for something that size.
