Purchasing a Jeep Wrangler help

Hi,

We have decided on a 4 door Jeep Wrangler as a toad.

I have driven a 2 door and 4 door and liked both, the 4 door will be more practical for us. Have decided on a 2012 model.

I purchased a car from this company before and sold it back to them a few years later when I changed to a SUV, it's a mom and pop shop and found them very reasonable to deal with. They do offer a 30 day 1000 mile powertrain warranty.

I really like the red as we have always purchased silver or black cars in the past.

A buddy from work who is big in to jeeps is going to put it on a ramp and inspect it. It will also get weighed before any sale is made.

What do folks think of the price and the Jeep?

Thanks,

It does have some corrosion on the door hinges and the heated seat needs to be repaired.

Mileage is 134k.

Can't beat a Jeep. If the price is right it'll serve you well. The JK series of Jeep is much heavier than the TJ Jeeps.

Thanks Both,

The price does seem fair. Car gurus has it at 1400$ below market value.

That’s a lot of miles. Jeeps are known for a lot of things, reliability isnt one of them. Don’t get me wrong, I just bought a 2018 and have high hopes for it. I’d just be ready to be putting money into it.

It is indeed a lot of miles, I am looking for one with less miles if possible.

I know I am new here but been working on jeeps for 23 years in a dealership. The early 3.6 engines had trouble with the left cylinder head. They actually extended the warrinty (sp)on them. They also have rocker and lifter issues even with the newer ones. The rest of the powertrain is rock solid. Proven stuff. Be ready to deal with water leaks and some minor electrical issues.

Thanks C Farmer,

I had read about the Cylinder issue. A work buddy who knows Wranglers will inspect it.

Red is always easy to find in the parking lot! At least that what sales told us when we bought our Little Red Caboose. She was correct.

He wont know if its bad until it has a check engine light for a miss fire on the left cylinders. Maybe it was already replaced. With that milage I would say it was.

I tow a '17 JK Wrangler. Love it. Mileage would be my concern FYI: If you plan to go off road check out Tomken Bumpers which was less $ than Blue Ox baseplates.
