What's the best toad to tow???

There are as many opinions on this as there are toads. I love my Wrangler

Pretty open question. What are your needs or requirements? MPG, people carry capacity, cargo capacity, weight (what are you towing it with), budget (and new or used), etc?

An open answer - most any of the 4x4 Jeeps are very popular as toads.

Wow, kind of like asking how long is a piece of thread. The towds we see most often are Honda CRV, Jeeps, Saturns, and Malibus. But we have seen everything from Smart Cars to Escalades. What car will fit your needs when it is not being towed? How much weight can your rv safely tow? What kind of car do you want to drive? Maybe some more information from you would help us guide you better.

Lol, sorry. I'm driving an Allegro Open Road 32ca. Guessing 5000 lbs is my tow max. Car would be used for vacationing around. Look to tow something small to medium.

Here's another question while I'm at it. What vehicle can I tow on all fours that wouldn't rack up the miles in the car.

We have two toads. A 2003 Wrangler and a 2003 Cherokee Overland. The Wrangler does not spin the odometer while being towed. Don't know about the Cherokee yet. Just finished the towing equipment fit up and have not actually pulled it anywhere.

The Wrangler was too cramped for us on extended stays. When we go to Arizona in the winter it's kind of like being home with the attendant errands and social outings. So we bought the Cherokee to have a roomier vehicle for a daily driver. The Wrangler works fine for shorter trips.

I've weighed them both and the Wrangler comes in at 3,750 and the Cherokee at nearly 4,500 pounds.

I also towed a 2003 Cherokee Overland for many years....great vehicle, really easy to setup but the 4x4 Cherokees are a little heavy as stated above. Recommend only if you have a diesel pusher. Does not increase miles when towing.

We replaced the Jeep with a 2012 Chevy Equinox....lighter at 3700# and would work better for you with the gasser.

I towed a Grand Cherokee Overland for many years behind a gas Class A. I weighed it at 4700lbs prior to leaving for a trip. While on our 3 week outings of the past, we amassed souvenirs, often furniture and pictures, that we carried in the Jeep. That added weight. The motorhome had no issues pulling it. But ultimately, the MH transmission had to be replaced. Shortly thereafter, I went with a CR-V. Much lighter and more dependable. (I had a lot of problems with the Jeep.). Originally I wanted a Wrangler. My wife insisted on an 'adult car' as she put it. To this day, when driving in extreme weather, like when it was snowing in Yosemite in January, or in 112 heat in July at Lake Shasta, I'm sure glad I did as I was told.

I have the same motorhome as you. We chose a Honda Fit for our toad since 1) it's a pretty darn good car, 2) it only weighs 2500lbs, 3) you can tow the automatic version 4 down (per Honda); and 4) it doesn't accumulate miles towing. It also seats 4 adults with good leg room-another thing to consider.

Check out Subaru, if you don't mind manual transmissions. We tow a 2012 Impreza, great car.
On most new cars, mileage while towed won't appear on the odometer.

My CR-V auto tows fine 4 down and does not accumulate mile. It seats 4 comfortably with plenty of cargo room.

Best is relative, of course. I mean if I had a relative buy me one it would be my favorite barring that I have a CR-V. 04, 94,000 miles with about 30,000 toad miles all trouble free.

Honda CR-V, a consumer reports best buy rating, best resale rating, best safety rating, tows easily, weighs about 3400, roomy, silky smooth transmission and engine.

Plenty of others but from your description this will do nicely.
