Question for people towing a 2013 or newer Ford Fusion

My question is how did they run the wires to the tail lights? Did they go through the firewall or underneath the car and come up through the trunk or some other way entirely? I have a 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid Energi and will be using magnetic lights on inside rear shelf near the rear window of the car. What I can not figure out is how to get the wire back to the lights that will be mounted inside the car.

I ran wires through the engine compartment to the firewall ... Through a slit in a rubber grommet through the firewall into the passenger compartment ... Then under the door sill plates to the trunk area. I used diodes into the existing wiring harness for the turn/brake lights and a separate LED light set in an add on license plate frame for the tail lights.

Mikee, thanks for that. What year car do you have? Can you be more specific about where that grommet might be, I have looked everywhere and I have not seen what you are describing.

I have a 2014 Fusion Hybrid. I used the grommet for the main wiring harness located on the firewall right behind the power brake actuator. Made a small slit on the side and ran several wires through.

Wow, thanks for that, I will have to go out and look to see if I can figure out where that is. Thanks again!

Mikee, let me describe what I found. Looking at the firewall there is a large drum looking device I am assuming that is the brake booster. To the right of that there is large bundle of cables that go through a black rubber cover. By feeling that cover it seems as there is room to make a slit to feed the wires. Below is a picture:

Is that where you came through the firewall?

That's the place. Just keep the slit small and away from the wire bundle and all will be good!
