Questions about drop hitch
Time to get some advice from you folks here who have more knowledge than I in this regard. I'm getting ready to set up my F-150 to be towed behind my RV.
Today I measured 21" from the center of my 2" receiver on my RV to the ground and 15" from the tow hooks on my F150.
So, I have two questions this morning:
1. Is it safe to assume that I need a 6" drop hitch?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which drop hitch to purchase? I'd like to buy a high quality American made hitch if possible. I also like the idea of having an adjustable hitch as it may come in handy if I ever have to tow something with my F150.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No mention on which tow bar so it would help for others to reply. I have a Blue Ox Avail and it notes a max 2" offset from the towbar to the tow hooks.
I use a 6" NSA for my Bounder and Focus setup
Check with your model and see what it recommends.

6" sounds about right. I have a 6" high/low from Roadmaster. It's heavy weight rated , 10k. Bought via Amazon. Blue Ox has high rated ones as well, I believe.
You are measuring with the coach aired up and on level surface, correct?

I would try and get the tow bar level, i.e a 6" drop. The other factor is the weight rating of the drop hitch adapter. I would look for the 10,000 lb rating. As I remember, Roadmaster was the only 10K rated drop hitch.

I use a 10" NSA drop hitch, only inverted because my RV hitch is lower than my Jeep bumper. It is rated for 8000 lbs also.

Blue OX has had some problems with a few of their tow bars breaking. There have been several instances of it posted on the forums here.
I haven't seen any RoadMaster failures other than one where the bolts in the towed came loose and pulled out of the frame.
I like my RoadMaster Sterling towbar I bought in 2005. Have used it to tow three different toweds, it is the older one that can bind up. I also have a RoadMaster Falcon All Terrain (non-binding) that came with the CR-V I recently bought. Need to decide which to use. I like the sterling for looks but I don't like the fact that it binds in some positions.

I had a similar situation with the Sterling and Falcon All Terrain. The all Terrain is much better to me. Just let the Sterling go along with the toad I sold. Using the Falcon all of the time now with no issues.
